THE ARMORED CAR THEATRE –

Louisville, KY has a large number of theatre companies that produce intelligent, interesting, diverse performing art. Unfortunately, venues for these companies are extremely limited.

Spaces currently available for theatre are booked years in advance, are very expensive, offer few “customer services”, and are hard to restructure if the stage seating or lighting needs to be changed for a production. As well, the rental venues currently available to local theatre companies do not offer storage space for their props and sets, or space in which to construct their props and sets.

Lack of viable performance and storage space is the single greatest deterrent to the development and ongoing success of new performing arts companies. Lack of available free parking is one of the greatest deterrents to theatre audience attendance. ACT will offer its client theatre companies space for storage as well as performance, and will have abundant free parking for its audiences. ACT will resolve many of the problems which have resulted from the limited number of venues presently available.

ACT will be designed by Michael Hottois, a well respected, nationally known theatre design professor at The University of Louisville. ACT is to be fitted with “state of the art” sound and lighting.
